How you can Fix a Slow Laptop


Often times your laptop begins to slow down as a result of regular use or too much files in the laptop and this eventually slows down the laptops response time, causing processing of activities in the laptop to take longer time. To be frank, laptops are very annoying to use when they are very slow, you can imagine waiting for 5-6 minutes for just ms-word application to open or your browser application to load. You can fix your laptop by running manual maintenance such as uninstalling unneeded application, running anti-virus scan, increasing of your laptop RAM for faster performance and you can stop some applications from running when you boot your laptop.
In this article, I will outline some possible solutions to fix a slow laptop.

  1.   Anti-virus scan
Anti-virus are application that fights virus which might have consumed your system CPU resources causing it to slow down. Update and run system antivirus scan to remove Malware and Spyware. The most advisable anti-virus to use is Avast.

  2.   Removing unneeded application from startup menu
Some applications runs themselves immediately the laptop boots up causing the system to slow down.
Click the start button, click on “All programs”, scroll down and click on “Startup” folder, then right-click on any application you see there and delete them.

        3.   Hard-disk cleanup
You can run hard-disk cleanup in your laptop by clicking the Start button, type “disk cleanup” and press the “Enter” key to launch the Disk Cleanup utility. Place a checkmark in the box next to items you want to delete, and then click “OK” to clean up your laptop’s hard drive.

4.   Defragmentation of hard-disk
You can run disk defragmentation by clicking the Start button, type “disk defragmenter” and press the “Enter” key to launch the Windows defragmenter utility. Select your laptop’s hard drive and click “Defragment disk” to consolidate files, which helps speed up the hard drive response time.

5.   Addition of new RAM (Random Access Memory)
Add more RAM memory to your laptop to improve the performance. Every system has two RAM port, you can buy an additional RAM and slot it in the second memory port to improve your laptop performance.

Tips:
 To avoid loss of files, you can back-up your files by copying them into an external hard-disk or flash memory disk because slowdown of laptop may lead to crashing down of laptop’s hard-disk.
